The FICA Research Fellowship is designed to identify, encourage and support art writers, researchers and scholars working in modern and contemporary art in India. FICA understands the serious need for quality research and critical scholarship in the field of visual arts and through this programme aims to facilitate and foster this community of practitioners.

In 2011 the fellowship was revised  and expanded into a complete residency module with added focus on curatorial research. The fellowship is currently presented in collaboration with its three London-based partners -  the Department of Visual Cultures and the PhD. Program in Curatorial/Knowledge, Goldsmiths, University of London, Iniva (Institute of International Visual Arts) and Delfina Foundation.
