PHOTOGRAPHY GRANT | DEADLINE: JULY 5, 2018

The MurthyNAYAK Foundation (MNF) in association with Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts and Communications (SACAC) is initiating a grant of INR 2,00,000 to be given to an Indian Photographer under the age of 35 years working on a socially relevant theme. Some of the possible concerns for submissions to this grant could be environmental/ecological disasters, political and religious conflict, socio-economic disparity, agrarian distress, gender & LGBTQ issues, displacement, migration etc. The grant will be given to further ongoing projects as well.

ART RESIDENCY | DEADLINE: JULY 20, 2018

1Shanthiroad invites applications from young emerging artists working in and across the disciplines of New Media: Photography, Film & Video, Animation, Light and Projection, Media Arts, Music & Sound and Technology for the Next-Step Residency Program, supported by the Sher-gil Sundaram Arts Foundation. This doesn't limit it to digital media. The residency is open to “traditional” art forms, such as painting and sculpture which can be found within this context. 

Criteria:
- Applicants should have completed their BFA or MFA in Visual Arts. Self-trained artists with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field. Applicable for Indian nationals only.
- A portfolio/Links that includes five of your best works. Please select FIVE ONLY for review
- Write a 250-word purpose of intent
- One letter of Recommendation

CIMA AWARD 2019 | DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 17, 2018

CIMA, Centre of International Modern Art, has launched a biennial event in search of country-wide talents in visual arts to recognize and reward artists for their talent and creativity. The works for the awards will be selected by a jury which will highlight knowledge-based appreciation of art and artist. This event is open to all artists, trained as well as self-taught, across the country and will go beyond all conventional barriers and seek to recognize and encourage excellence, particularly in its uniqueness of vision. It seeks to bridge the gap between urban and rural India and thus promote the richness of Indian art as a whole. CIMA Award will cover paintings, sculptures, graphics and emerging new media such as video art, installations, graphic novel, digital art.

STUDIO RESIDENCY | DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2018

Applications are invited from artists and cultural practitioners in the areas of performing and visual arts, literature, design and interactive media for a Studio Residency being awarded by Pro Helvetia -Swiss Arts Council. Meant for Swiss artists in South Asia ( to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka) or, conversely, for artists from South Asia (from either India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan or Sri Lanka), the aim of the residency is to help the participants find inspiration, establish networks and contemplate new projects.

OPEN CALL FOR EXHIBITIONS | APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2018

From February 1–March 1, 2018 apexart is accepting proposals for its International Open Call for exhibitions. Three winning proposals will be presented as part of apexart’s 2018-19 exhibition season, and can take place anywhere in the world, except for New York City. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit proposals online. Submissions cannot exceed 500 words and must be submitted in English, and submitters must have visited the proposed exhibition location previously. An international jury, composed of more than 150 individuals from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, rates the proposals.
