FICA ‘Art walks for Children’ is a series of six sessions, to be conducted by Nilanjana Nandy at museums, galleries and art neighbourhoods. The Saturday sessions will introduce children to exciting exhibitions currently on view and are designed to attune young minds to art.

We invite children to engage with artworks through a variety of mediums and modalities, and focus on educational experiences beyond what is taught at school, in order to foster curious and creative minds. The walkthroughs will double up as interactive sessions where children will be explore the exhibitions via hands-on exercises and fun games on site.

The aim of these walkthroughs is to make art more accessible to children in terms of both content and first-hand interaction, and engage with it in a non-hierarchical fashion where conversation and play is emphasised. It will explore the potential of art spaces as places of learning.

Through the series, we aim to make this experience of visiting art exhibitions art more holistic, engaging, and imaginative for children.
