| The Research Fellowship is designed to
identify, encourage and, most importantly,
support art writers, researchers and
scholars working in Modern and Contemporary
Indian Art. Despite the increased focus on
contemporary Indian art in the last few
years, there have not been many young and
new art writers emerging on the scene.
Several awards/funds have been made
available to emerging artists; however the
same has not been the case for art writers
and critics. |

| The fellowship thus hopes to
partially fill this void. Earlier
this year FICA hosted a workshop for
art writers titled ‘Writing Art’ as
an initial step in this direction.
The fellowship is our next
initiative, and will be an annual
program. |
